St Mary's and St Nicholas' enjoy good relationships with St Margaret Clitherow RC Church and Haxby and Wigginton Methodist Church.

All the churches are represented on a joint consultation group.

We share in worship and activities throughout the year:

  • “Outlook”: a free monthly newspaper sent to every house in Haxby and Wigginton
  • Quarterly shared evening services
  • A Good Friday service of witness
  • Christian Aid Week
  • A Christmas card from all the churches to the entire community
  • An annual Christmas event
  • Support for the “Aroma” Coffee Shop

World Concerns

The Haxby & Wigginton World Concerns Group exists to promote congregational engagement with issues beyond the parish boundaries.  Explicitly we foster our links with a number of Christian organisations, running events and offering prayers:

Youth for Christ

Hull Youth for Christ was established in the 1950's and was involved with organising city wide events and training for the church.

In the early nineties it was decided that a change of approach was needed in order to reach out to young people living in deprived areas who were not likely to hear about the Gospel. A project was then set up on the Boulevard in West Hull with a team of Christians living in the area and helping to meet the needs of young people and families in the community; building relationships where faith could be shared sensitively.

Hull Youth Christ is still present on the Boulevard and the same vision is now also driving a project on Greatfield.

Christian Aid

Christian Aid is a Christian organisation that insists the world can and must be swiftly changed to one where everyone can live a full life, free from poverty.

It works globally for profound change that eradicates the causes of poverty, striving to achieve equality, dignity and freedom for all, regardless of faith or nationality. We are part of a wider movement for social justice.

We provide urgent, practical and effective assistance where need is great, tackling the effects of poverty as well as its root causes.

 USPG Anglicans in World Mission

USPG works in direct partnership with Anglican Churches in over 50 countries, helping to support vital church work, including healthcare, education, leadership training and action for social justice.
