Who comes to our churches?
Everyone is welcome. Our congregations come from a variety of backgrounds and traditions. Children and young people are very welcome.
Our sung services tend to attract more people, whilst others enjoy the more informal setting of our said services.
Many people from our community enjoy fellowship with us on special occasions and on church ‘feast days’ such as Mothering Sunday, Easter, Harvest, Remembrance Sunday and at Christingle and Carol Services around Christmas.
Are children welcome?
Yes! We especially try to provide activities for children at our two main sung services on Sundays, and there are other groups during the week to which children, parents and young people are welcome.
As parishes we have Safeguarding policies and procedures.
What happens at our services?

There will be different themes explored throughout the year, depending on the particular Christian season eg: Advent, Christmas, Lent, Easter …
How long are the services?
Our sung services normally about an hour, while our said services are a little shorter – up to 45 minutes.
Will I be asked to do anything during the service?
No. You will not be asked to do anything you do not want to do. If you become a regular attender and would like to get more involved, then let us know.
Is there a ‘dress code’?
No. We would like you to feel comfortable, so just come as you are, taking into account the needs of those around you.
Do you have provision for the hard of hearing or partially sighted?
For those who are hard of hearing a loop system is available.
Where possible we try to provide large-print service books and notice-sheets.
Do you collect money at a service?
At most services, yes. We believe that our response to the love of God shown in Jesus and in creation prompts us to offer our thanks not only in worship but by supporting the work of the church and in giving to charity. We also have to pay the bills for maintaining our churches and their activities!
Our voluntary giving and fundraising is the principal source of our income.
If you are not a regular attender of the church, please don't feel that you have to put any money in the collection plate, though you may wish to contribute.
Are there toilet facilities?
Yes, at both churches.
Are there parking facilities?
There is a car park at St Nicholas’ Church, Wigginton.
We have the use of a car park for the main 10.15 a.m. service only at St Mary’s Haxby on a Sunday morning.
Otherwise parking for both churches has to be on surrounding streets.
Do you have a church hall?
Yes, both churches have a hall, which may be available for hire.
