Introduction

Most of us will know that Our Lord taught in parables.  Did you know that the word ‘parable’ is derived from the Greek parabole, which means to compromiseJesus sought to share his message with his disciples and the multitudes that followed him by using this simple teaching tool.

A parable is a story where one thing is used to illustrate something else - often with an unusual character or surprising action.  Christ taught in this way to encourage us to think, to respond and to question so that we could become faithful in our daily actions.

In 2019 Talkabout plans to explore some of the parables in the New Testament with our readers through the support of clergy, church elders and others.  We are hopeful that their shared stories will help you appreciate the role of parables in our Christian lives.
