The Hub: Wednesday morning coffee

Our Wednesday morning coffee meeting has recommenced after the summer break.   We would be pleased to see you between 9.30 a.m. and 11.00 a.m.

Ladies Night - Friday 22nd September

On Friday 22nd September there will be a Pamper Night in aid of 'Rethink' at The Cottage Inn, from 8.00 p.m. to 10.00 p.m.  It is run by Forever Living Aloe Vera and Ladies Night.   Come along for a fun social evening and try one of the Pamper Treats for £5.   Everyone welcome even if you don't want to be pampered.

Harvest Festival - Sunday 24th September

Once again we will be welcoming Chris and Anna Hembury from Hull, where we support their Breakfast Club.   This year we are asked to provide CORNFLAKES, tea, sugar and long-life Apple Juice.   These items can be left in church at anytime.   Brunch will be served after the 9.30 a.m. service

Pilgrim Course on 'The Commandments' - begins 5th October

A new 6-week course on 'The Commandments' will commence on Thursday 5th October at St Nicholas' Church Wigginton.   The sessions will be held each Thursday from 7.30 p.m. to 9.00 p.m.   The course is part of the Pilgrim Series centrally produced by the Church of England (our last Pilgrim Course looked at The Lord's Prayer).  There is a booklet to accompany the course.   Please sign the sheet at the back of church if you would like to come along.   One of the course booklets is available for you to see.   It is possible to follow the course via the booklet if you are unable to attend every week.

Bingo and Buns: Saturday 7th October

Bingo and Buns at St, Nicholas' Church Hall, Saturday 7th October, 2.00 p.m. to 4.00 p.m..   Prize bingo 6 games + a special for £5.   Come along and join us for some fun and a nice chat over a cup of tea with cake.

Refugee Collection: Saturday 7th October

York City of Sanctuary are collecting for refugees on Saturday 7th October at St. Mary's Church Haxby between 10.00 a.m. and 12.00 noon.   There is a list available of items they would like.   The donations will be going towards helping the 1,000 refugees and asylum seekers in Middlesbrough.   As a 'thank you' for any donation there will be free refreshments.

CMS Event: Saturday 7th October

The next and last CMS event will be at Christ Church, Stockton Lane, on Saturday 7th October at 12.15 p.m. for a 12.30 p.m. start.   There will be a light lunch of soup and desert followed by a talk from Mark Berry on the subject 'The place of CMS in today's world.'   Tickets cost £4 and are available from Frances Birkinshaw.   Numbers need to be in by 3rd October.   If you need or can offer a lift please let Frances know.

Old £1 coins

A reminder that old £1 coins cease to be legal tender on 15th October.
